Caliper is a linear measuring instrument with a scale and a slider that slides on it. It is designed to take external linear measurements by contact. It can also measure internal dimensions, depths, bumps, among others.
The main scale of this simulator is graduated in centimeter, which is divided into tenths (millimeter).
In the dial, the pointer gives a full turn (360 °) every millimeter of advance and its dial has a hundred divisions. In this way, each stroke that the pointer “sweeps” represents the feed rate of 1/100 of the millimeter or one hundredth of a millimeter.
One advantage of adopting the watch to increase the resolution of the caliper is that it allows the display to rotate, after unlocking, to adjust the instrument and facilitate the inspection of the tolerance of several pieces without the need to interpret each one.
This instrument, as a rule, can not replace the micrometer with hundredth resolution, since its accuracy
(imprecision between presented and actual value) is greater than that of resolution.
Caliper with virtual dial in millimeter with 0.01 mm resolution – simulator of use and practice of reading and interpretation
The monitor resolution doesn’t allow that the virtual instrument interpolate every possibility of measure, if you wish to investigate these possibilities, interact with the simulator of dial indicator and transfer what you have learned.
